Outstanding Centennial Engineer Award

Victor Crawford, PE

Mr. Crawford worked for more than forty-five years as a civil engineer, work that included engineering consultant in the private sector, and as a federal employee with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and in the Navy’s Shoreside Environmental Program.  This work included supporting the Navy’s environmental compliance program at various levels in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command and leading environmental assessment teams at DOE facilities to determining required improvements in environmental operations and nuclear environmental monitoring. 

Upon retirement, Mr. Crawford continues to support the Civil Engineering Profession by volunteering to promote Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in schools while also supporting ASCE’s Virginia and National Capital Sections.  This included serving as the K-12 Educational Committee Chair for the National Capital Section which was highlighted by having ASCE booths at both the USA Science and Engineering Festivals in 2016 and 2018, and the yearly Discover Engineering Family Day at the National Building Museum.  In addition to STEM actions, Mr. Crawford re-established and then served as the first President and now as the current Treasurer of the Bull Run Branch.   He is also the Past Treasurer of the National Capital Section, and the past and current Chair of the National Capital and the Virginia Sections Centennial Celebrations in 2016 and 2022.  

Mr. Crawford has a Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering, California State University, Chico, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia, Maryland, and South Carolina.
