ASCE Virginia Tech Chapter Recognized

With immense pleasure, we would like to announce that Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University ASCE Student Chapter has been selected by the Committee of Student Members to receive a Certificate of Commendation for its outstanding activities as recorded in the 2015 Chapter annual report. Virginia’s Student Conference 2016

  On 31st March - 2nd April 2016, fourteen schools from West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia traveled to George Washington University's (GW’s) Foggy Bottom campus to participate in the annual Virginia's Student Conference and Competitions.  On Friday, April 1st, 12 teams competed in the AISC Steel Bridge competition at the GW Health and Wellness Center with three outstanding teams advancing to nationals in May. Rajan Jha recognized as ASCE New Face of Civil Engineering

Rajan Jha, first Vice President of ASCE Virginia, has been recognized as one of the ten "2016 New Faces of Civil Engineering Professionals" by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Rajan did his Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Punjab Engineering College in India and Master's in Water Resources from Virginia Tech.  At Virginia Tech, he worked with his professor (Dr Panos Diplas) on developing a new river classification system and design guidelines on stream restoration structures.
