SUMMARY:2021 Presidents and Governors Forum (PGF)
DESCRIPTION:Due to the pandemic\, the 2021 Presidents and Governors Forum (PGF) will be held virtually this year. It is scheduled Wednesday\, September 29 through Friday\, October 1. The tentative schedule each day will be 1pm-4:30pm EDT. \nOne of the advantages of the virtual format is that we will be able to reach a larger audience\, so we encourage you to share this information with other current or future leaders in your Section or Branch. The goal of the Presidents and Governors Forum (PGF) is to provide ASCE leaders the knowledge\, tools\, and resources to effectively and efficiently run their local units. It is also an opportunity to hear from our Society leaders and interact with the leaders of other Sections\, Branches\, and Regions. \nPlease consider this a pre-announcement for planning purposes. \nAdditional details\, including confirmation of the final times\, log-in information\, and an agenda\, will be forthcoming. In the interim if you download the attachment\, it will populate your calendar with the dates. If you have any questions\, please contact Nancy Berson at nberson@asce.org or at 571-262-1754.

SUMMARY:Fink Truss Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Here is an opportunity to help “beautify” a historical ASCE Landmark: the Fink Truss Bridge in Riverside Park in Lynchburg. \nWe have two missions:\n1. Primarily\, cut as much bamboo as we can on the east side of the bridge. Most of the cut bamboo needs to be hauled up the hill to the park road and laid next to the road\, parallel to the road to the extent possible. A small amount of the bamboo should be put into the gulley to the left of the trail about 100 feet downstream of the bridge. I can point out these locations when we get there.\n2. A smaller task is to shovel leaves off the steps on the embankment to the left of the bridge. \nThe City of Lynchburg will provide some loppers\, gloves\, and a shovel. Anyone who also has gloves or loppers can bring their own also. \nThe gameplan is to meet and work from 9 am – 1 pm.\nWe can have some pastries\, coffee\, juice available in the morning.\nThen\, have some pizza and drinks available in the afternoon. \nThe coordinates are:\n37.440040\,-79.165570\nYou can park by the tennis courts\, then walk a couple hundred yards down the hill and past the train exhibit to the Fink Truss Bridge. \nPlease let John Vadnal know if you are interested by Wednesday\, Oct. 20\, so we can have a headcount of who is coming. \nThanks so much. I look forward to seeing you there!
