On 31st March – 2nd April 2016, fourteen schools from West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia traveled to George Washington University’s (GW’s) Foggy Bottom campus to participate in the annual Virginia’s Student Conference and Competitions.

On Friday, April 1st, 12 teams competed in the AISC Steel Bridge competition at the GW Health and Wellness Center with three outstanding teams advancing to nationals in May. On April 2nd, the Concrete Canoe Competition was held at the Georgetown Waterfront where 10 schools tested their nautical abilities in less-than-conventional watercraft. In between these main competitions, students tested their abilities in other fields such as environmental, transportation, Hardy Cross Presentation, and Marr Technical Paper.

The weekend was celebrated by 360 attendees with a banquet on Friday (April 1) night at the Georgetown Marriott Hotel where a Clark Construction Division President gave the keynote address. All teams enjoyed interacting with other like-minded individuals and spending time in Washington, DC!
