Bull Run Branch November Meeting

Please join the Bull Run Branch as we honor our Centennial Award Winners, Gannett Fleming and Express Mobility Partners.  Following the presentation of the awards we will have a joint presentation by the awardees on their company’s role in the I-66 Express Lane Project.

Our Presenters are:

Nawroz (Noah) Rasheed, has 30 years of experience in construction. He worked in all variety of positions starting with materials testing technician up to his current role as a Construction Manager.  On this project, he is managing the GF team, with 4 senior constructions inspectors and 2 administrators/document control. He has over 3 years with GF and with all of it on this project. He worked for 11 years with Dewberry Engineers prior to joining GF.  He has a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) 1989, is a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) offered by Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) 2018, is a Certificate of Transportation Construction Management Institute (TCMI) from Virginia Tech 2019, and has a Certificate of Project Management Academy offered by Professional Services Management Journal (PSMJ) 2022.

Matthew Miller, has 10 years of experience in roadway construction. He started as a field engineering tester until he was hired as an intern with Cintra for the NTE Segment 1 & 2 project in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He has worked for several express lane projects from Dallas/Fort Worth to Charlotte and now to DC. He started with the I-66 project in 2018 as a Segment Manager for Segments 2 and 3. Currently he is the Senior Environmental, Quality, and Safety Manager for the developer’s operations team.  He graduated with a Bachelor degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2011.

Join us as we learn about the I-66 Project Express Lanes, which has entered the final stage of construction, with the Sections in our area now in opened and in use.  You will learn about the Project’s location, limits, the schedule, budget, objectives, owners, and contractors that have been involved in this work over the last several years.  The presenters will walkthrough different phases of major activities and milestones, discuss the Environmental / Sustainability aspects, including the introducing Rubblization for the first time in Virginia.  They will also cover Diversity, Safety, the roles and teamwork between GF and EMP, using Geographic Information Systems in construction, and finally the challenges and lessons learned they have faced and gained from working on this project.
