100 Years – 100 New Members
The Centennial Celebration Committee would like to end our Centennial Year by adding 100 new Virginia Section members. So, we are challenging each Virginia Section ASCE Member to find a non-member Civil Engineer and to respectfully engage them in conversation about joining. Using no pressure, just gentle persuasion, let them know one of the primary benefits of membership is access to up to 10 FREE WEBINARS per year that will give needed Continuing Education Credits to renew a PE license every two years. Other benefits include being one of our members that lobby for legislation like the recent Infrastructure Act that provided funds for projects that Civil Engineers design and construct and maintain. This is strictly voluntary and would consist primarily of contacting the individual’s Congressional delegation to encourage them to support infrastructure related legislation, as the Virginia Section uses our soon to be released Report Card to identify concerns across the Commonwealth to them. Others can even go to Washington to meet with their representatives on a voluntary basis.
Additional benefits include meetings with other members periodically to socialize and network between government and private engineers. There is even access to health and life insurance. There is also an opportunity to interact with College Student Chapters to mentor and help with various projects that come up during the year like the concrete canoe races and steel bridge construction and even concrete bowling. So, if you are interested in joining our challenge and require additional assistance, please contact ASCE Customer Service at member@asce.org or 800-548-2723 (ASCE) or 703-295-6300 (9:00 am-5:00 pm ET). Please include your full name and address in your correspondence. Also, you can click on BENEFITS that will take you directly to the ASCE Membership Benefits page on their website.
